Be Nice! My Mom Told Me To!

Do you remember back in the day, when you were little, and your mother was always saying things like:

  • Do unto others as you would have done to yourself
  • Don't fight - Use your words
  • Wait until you have kids of your own
  • I'm the boss, and the child always listens to the boss
  • Because I said so
Now do you remember? Yeah, I thought so. What I hate though is when those words come back to haunt you! Especially when you are raising your own children, and you catch yourself saying the very things your mother ALWAYS used to tell you!

I remember thinking that Mom was just crazy, saying those things! Why, as kids, we always doubt our parents? Why can't there be an automatic button, or a gene already instilled that let's us know our parents are always right?

Today I find myself telling my kids all the time, treat others like you would want to be treated because you just never know what may be going on in their life causing them to act like that. Be nice!

Not too long ago, my daughter told me, "When will I just learn that you're always right!"

Haha! Talk about jumping to the past! Of course I laughed, but I had to break down and tell her I had said the same thing to my own mother. Now only if my mother could have heard me admit to that one, she probably would have peed herself.

Now if only we can work on that "born-with" gene so that we already know OUR MOTHERS ARE ALWAYS RIGHT!

What do you remember your mother telling you as a child, that you swore you would never repeat, and do?

Cat's Got My Tongue!

I hate when this happens! My muse is fighting to break free and my brain is not allowing the words to come out right. It's there, I know it is. The story is just dying to get out! It just won't come though. I'm not sure if my brain is working faster than my comprehension or what the heck happens, and boy oh boy do I hate it!

The struggle I feel inside, this turmoil, is almost more than I can bare at times. It makes me feel very antsy, and sometimes sad. I feel all irritable, and sometimes I forget why I'm even being grumpy to begin with, then I step back, rethink my place and start all over again with trying to figure out why I can't get the words out.

I think it may be characters struggling, or fighting for their place in the story. Who will win out to be the main character, while the other one must agree to take a backseat as secondary. Maybe I'm trying to go in the wrong direction completely. I'm just not sure, but I want to figure it out.

Have you ever had this happen to you? If so, what do you do to get your muse back on track? I'd love for some ideas.

I Went To Sin City!!

Okay. Not the real Sin City, but it was real close!

My new husband and I took a 2 day sabbatical to Atlantic City, New Jersey! We spent most of our time on the beach, but I have to tell ya! I don't see the big deal about gambling! A bit on that a little later...Anyways, we stayed at Bally's - cool pic huh? My husband did a great job catching the moon it the sky! It was a nice hotel.

When we first arrived, we headed straight for the beach. We came to Sammy's Beach Bar, and can you believe it? It belongs to Sammy Hagar! For those of you that don't remember him...

Yes! From Van Halen - when they were.

We stopped for a drink then the water was just calling out to us!

We walked along the beach, listening to the waves and splashing in the water. It was so warm, and the seagulls flying around was just refreshing!

Later that evening we spent some time on the boardwalk! Let me tell you, we did so much walking and still didn't make it to the other end!

Above these billboards, seagulls flew and looked like they were glowing. We didn't know what they were at first, and then I saw wings flapping! I'm such a bubblehead that I swore they shot the gulls up with some sort of drug to make them glow! We stopped and asked a kid cleaning an outside patio and he proceeded to tell us that they were just seagulls flying and the lights from the billboards just made them look like they were glowing! Haha! *slapsforehead* I'm sure he really thought I was an idiot! My husband still laughs to this day about it!

We loved the beach though and spent much of our time by the water. In the following pix, my husband does look a bit like he's had too much to drink, but he hadn't had anything! The flash was just too much for him lol.

At the other end of the beach was a pier, and it had this one ride that was like a slingshot! Yup, needless to say we didn't make it over there, and I wouldn't have been able to ride that ride without throwing up!

The Rides At Night - That blue stick had another one right next to it with a ball in the middle. It pulled the ball full of people down and let go just like a slingshot - BLAHHHH!

A better view of the slingshot.

Bally's West

The Saloon! Happy Hour 24 Hours Per Day!

As for the gambling??? I had no idea what I was doing. Burt and I sat at one of these slot machines, inserted money and pushed a button (max bet)....I watched the little pictures spin around and waited for fireworks! When nothing happened except for the pictures stopped spinning, I looked at my husband, "Really? This is it? People really sit here for hours and spend thousands of dollars on this?"

Of course I lost $60 and my husband won $200!

The time came for us to head back home, and after only 2 days, we were ready to leave the busy-ness behind.

When we got home, we were so tired and couldn't wait to get to bed. I think we slept for a full 12 hours! It was fun, but I don't think I'll be ready to go back to "Sin City" anytime soon!

Have you ever been to Atlantic City? Gambled?

I Got Hitched!

So...I finally took the plunge and got married! For the entire month of June I was as stressed as I've ever been. When July 3rd finally arrived, I didn't know whether to cry, throw up, or run for the woods lol.

I wanted a tie dye wedding, and trying to find dresses for all different shapes and sizes was like trying to pull teeth. We finally found a great place though, Custom Crafts, that did a beautiful job with the brides maid dresses.

My husband was so nervous as well, that he actually told his best man, (my son Hunter), that he may have to hold him up. His knees were shaking so bad he thought he might fall down.

Then I pulled up, and I say pulled up on this...

SHOTGUN WEDDING! Instead of my Dad walking me down the isle, he drove me on a Harley Davidson Trike, and when my husband to be saw me with a shotgun in my hand, I thought he was going to fall over! My Dad's idea, only he was supposed to be holding the gun. He couldn't drive and hold it at the same time though LMAO!

As nervous as we were, we got through our "I Do's", and officially tied the knot :).

You may now kiss the bride :)

The entire wedding party left on motorcycles. It just couldn't have been any better than that. Not to mention, Burt and I could finally breathe again haha.

Then it rained! BUT...we welcomed it as it was so hot that day, the rain was so refreshing, not to mention, they say it's good luck if it rains on your wedding day! So guess our marriage will be blessed with luck until death do us part!

My mother was having a really good day. She welcomed Burt with open arms and said, "Welcome to our crazy family. You better treat her right or I'll kick your ass!" Needless to say, she was the comedian of the night lol.

So now I am Mrs. Burt Morgret, yes, a very German name. He's taken me back to my own roots with my new last name. One day we may just travel to Germany and get a real taste of our heritage.

Things are finally settling down and I am trying to get back to work as normal. Life's just been so exciting! As we settle into our new lives together, I can only imagine it can only get better from here, if that's even possible.

I can't believe how smooth the wedding and the reception went, no hitches, haha no pun intended. It was just a beautiful day, even with the rain! I'm very blessed.

How about you? Any wedding blunders, or beautiful stories from your day? I'd love to hear them :)
